Font - Girlfriend works 40 hours a week, boss is forcing everyone to come in on a Sunday to "deep clean" We need to do a deep clean but that means everyone has to come in for eight hours on a Sunday, so I've been procrastinating scheduling that. It's going to have to happen sometime in May though. We used to do this once a year and we haven't done it since pre-covid. Please let me know if there is a Sunday that you are absolutely not available, otherwise I'll assume you can work, most likely 9-5

Font - She already works an average of 10 hours a day, sometimes she'll get a day she only works 4 or 5 hours. But a lot of days at 7am to 6:30pm. The boss is forcing everyone to come in on a Sunday to "deep clean" the place. She won't augment the work week to allow for the deep cleaning during the week.

Font - My girlfriend basically said no, I'm not coming in on the weekend because it's my only time off and is expected to always be off since that's what the job description said. Boss replied that she was putting it off for awhile but still wants everyone to come in on a Sunday regardless of what anyone says or suggests. On top of that, the boss is going to pay in cash for the extra 8 hours on the weekend.

Font - Research And Disaster 1 day ago I had a previous boss request this once. But she requested this the right way. It went something like, "Hey guys, I'm planning in doing a deep clean of the space this weekend. If anyone is interested in helping, it's overtime pay and I'll be here from 9-5! Thanks, have a great weekend." Only acceptable method. 10.8k Reply Share

Font - bozodiddadub1. 23 hr. ago I've told my last 3 jobs I can't work Sundays because I go to church with my family. Our church is the living room where we pray for the Packers to win. 2.4k Reply Share

Font - VexillaVexme. 23 hr. ago The first real restaurant I worked in used to do an annual deep clean in August, but they would close for a weekend (Sat/Sun). They'd schedule about 6 hours (paid) for the entire staff for a full scrub down. It sucked, BUT they would also feed the staff lunch from another local restaurant and then everyone who showed for cleaning would all go out to the lake for an evening BBQ on the beach and screwing around on the boss' boat.

Font - So, while it wasnt the most fun a person could possibly have with their Saturday, at least the owners tried really hard to make it worth being there. The above, paying cash to avoid OT is utter crap. 663 Reply Share

Font - ALurkerForced ToLogin. 1 day ago Do not accept pay in cash. That's just a way to cheat you out of overtime. And the boss isn't going to report it on your taxes, so you'll end up paying your part AND their part. If you make $15 an hour and get paid in cash, you'll send you paying more have half of that to taxes unless you risk not reporting your income, which I wouldn't do for anybody. 107 Reply Share

Font - FroboyFreshenUp - 1 day ago Nope Pay a service and get it done right, it will probably be cheaper than paying all your employees anyway and it will get done better/faster

Font - Chipped-Beef 23 hr. ago Cash for overtime, and not just overtime, probably pretty intense manual labor involving caustic chemicals. Also, no accumulation of vacation/sick leave or any other benefits that this lady has available to her. Not just illegal, but also straight up bullIII
